#1 His Tender Mercies: Who Has Been On Your Mind Lately?
A new series, difficult relationships, scriptures, and songs of the heart.
I thought it was about time to start something new! I’ve been trying to share things that have been helping me in my posts; however, I felt an impression to make it completely separate. There are things I’m still working out here (like chats/threads, etc.); things I may remove or add to.
Welcome To His Tender Mercies Series!
Tender Mercies will be a space where I share things that have contributed to a part of my journey in holistic wellness. You can expect things that integrate with spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual1—expect lovely things that have helped inspire me as a whole! My hope is that by sharing these things, we can help and encourage each other recognize the Lord’s tender mercies in our lives; to heal and grow according to the enabling and redeeming grace of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.2
Let’s Start With…Relationships!
I had a beautiful friend from my mission visit me recently and we were talking about relationships—which is something I’ve been thinking about a lot too. We were talking about making efforts and creating space for things that enlighten us so that we can feed the energy that enable us to nurture those relationships.
Then I thought of President Nelson’s recent plea3 that he shared across his social media accounts—to reach out to the one—a name you’ve been thinking about. Someone you know that needs His love, with your voice and friendship as His instrument. To reconcile, mend, or even forgive.
I am soon approaching my 100th birthday. One of the places where the Savior used the number 100 in the scriptures was the parable of the lost sheep. Though 99 of his flock were safely by his side, the shepherd went in search of the 1 who was lost.
At age 99, I have no need of physical gifts. But one spiritual offering that would brighten my life is for each of us to reach out to “the one” in our lives who may be feeling lost or alone.
Over the coming months I invite you to consider prayerfully: who do you know who may be discouraged? Who might you need to reconcile with or ask for forgiveness? Has one name been on your mind lately, though you haven’t quite known why? As you bring these questions to the Lord, He will inspire you to know how you can reach out and lift one who needs help.
What a beautiful example the Savior has shown us – that through each of us ministering to just one within our reach, we can spread the love of Jesus Christ throughout the world. #99plus1
President Russell M. Nelson
I definitely had someone in mind (more than one name actually lol and it was a great challenge for me to attempt when I tried talking to one of them; however I feel much lighter…phew, it’s a working progress haha)
Who’s yours?
Scriptures That Take My Breath Away
Doctrine & Covenants Section 25 - one of my ultimate favorites I’ve been going back to a lot these couple of years. A great feed for a soul’s purpose, calling, and the strength to “lay aside the things of this world…” (verse 10). A great study guide for the Holy Ghost to teach you what is no longer worth our time and energy4—and seek the things of the Lord (verse 10), something I have found to never fail to be a MUCH greater source of rest, energy and light.
The Restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood: Oliver Cowdery's Description - you can find it at the end, after verse 75! it gave me chills when I read this one! I felt like I was there with him!
Songs of the Heart; Yours and Mine
New hymns have been added to our Latter Day Saint hymn book! I KNOW! I’m SO excited because most of them are songs we already know and love as a Christian community worldwide. Check them out below on my footnotes!!5
One of the new songs added is this one below. I’m in love. 😭 ❤️ ✨
