26 But the aComforter, which is the bHoly Ghost, whom the Father will send in my cname, he shall dteach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
27 aPeace I leave with you, my bpeace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be ctroubled, neither let it be afraid.
It’s hard to hear what the Lord says when thousands of other thoughts fill our minds. Most of these are not necessarily bad but can be distracting. In many scriptures, fasting and praying are coupled together often. I didn’t really understand until recently that fasting is a process magnified when we do it frequently with our heart’s prayers.
Being a newlywed, there are many adjustments, plans, and decisions my husband and I make in order to solidify our goals for the future. A lot of which we need to revisit and update accordingly. These can look like finance meetings, pursuing education, full and or part-time jobs, and ultimately aligning our dreams prayerfully with God.
When I was a youth, God communicated with me much differently—I felt like God directed me to the paths I needed to take. Now, it’s pretty silent. Not that silence is bad, because I know He’s there. I can feel Him. Now, I’m realizing He trusts me to exercise my agency in the best way I know how, based on my circumstances—based on how I can best seek Him first in my everyday life.
Even when our Father in Heaven says nothing,
His grace, presence, and love stay the same.
If you are in the process of making an important decision, secular or spiritual, I invite you to consider fasting, praying, and increasing your time going and doing temple work. Also, listen to what nature has to offer! God’s creations can be a strong source of enlightenment and personal revelation—He created them for us.
I love you, dear brothers and sisters. The Lord knows you and loves you. He is your Savior and your Redeemer. He leads and guides His Church. He will lead and guide you in your personal life if you will make time for Him in your life—each and every day.
“Make Time for the Lord”
by President Russel M. Nelson
It is my testimony that God gives us confidence in the decisions we need to make when we believe and carefully observe the Atonement of His Son, Jesus Christ. I have felt the strength of Christ and love for me, and I know you can too!
God wants to lead and guide you. He has prepared a way and He wants to talk to you. (1 Nephi 3: 7)
If I’m not fasting from food, I fast from personal interests—social media, certain music, and even streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, etc haha)
What does fasting look like to you?
How do you know when God is speaking to you?
How do you feel Him?
I listen to Lauren Daigle a lot when I need Him. This song resonates with this post the most. I hope the Spirit of the Lord delivers whatever you need to feel more joy and personal peace in your life. Everything will be okay!
Love this song of Lauren🥰
