Sometime these past few weeks, I was listening to the All In podcast hosted by Morgan Jones with guest, Lizzy Jensen. I loved it! I never really liked podcasts that last for almost an hour but my appreciation is growing for them, especially when they dig deep on controversial issues in the Latter-Day Saint Christian community.
In this podcast, Lizzy talks about how she pursues creative work (blogging and other things) and how scared she was since she’s never done it before. It really resonated with me. If you are someone who feels hesitant about putting yourself out there in anyway, I think this podcast discussion could really benefit and inspire you.
One of the things Lizzy shared was the inspiration she’s received to create The Living Christ project. This project consists of memorizing small parts of The Living Christ document from beginning to end for (a recommended) eight weeks, and we memorize through MUSIC! I know, I got excited too because memorizing makes it a much more approachable experience—at least for me.
I kind of wish started a couple weeks early and finish the project right before General Conference but I also thought that if I was meant to find this project at this time then maybe I am meant to do it this way.
I am planning to start this project beginning this week! I wanted to invite you with me! You can do this project however you’d like. I’m pretty set on doing the recommended eight week memorization - General Conference would have passed by then, but I think doing it this way would be a beautiful opportunity to ponder on the messages shared (on General Conference) and the Spirit of Easter post-conference!
In the TLC website, they offer phone wallpapers, coloring pages for children (or adults, I mean I wanted to color too lol), and super cute prints you can put up anywhere in your home to memorize part of the TLC document that week! You can even download the audio parts, and music sheets are available.
The TLC song overall is a little over 13 minutes, and I was like wow that’s really long, um I don’t know if I can do that? But also I was like I memorized All Too Well (ten minute version) by Taylor Swift in a heartbeat. So, I have nothing to complain about, haha.
If you have any questions and concerns in your heart, take those with you in your TLC journey. Write them down. Write and keep a record of the miracles you feel and witness in this journey.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that The Living Christ has the same initials for Tender, Love, and Care. Things that you and I deserve.
I wanted to share my TLC experience along the way on chat or posts too! I’ll have to see what that looks like.
