Jesus calls you to do the small and simple things!
For His greater work, your willing heart is always enough.
I’m writing this while I’m in the bus. 😂 I’ve been into making these short and simple messages for you guys lately, lol. Mostly because of the season of my life at the moment. I hope they bring you joy, even a tiny bit. 💕
If you feel called to do something, it means God knows you are capable of doing that thing. So of course, understanding this, because of my anxiety, the moral perfectionist in me starts kicking in and this is when I get frustrated with the gospel. But here’s the thing, remember that our Father’s work cannot be frustrated—
1 The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.
2 For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.
3 Remember, remember that it is not the work of God that is frustrated, but the work of men;
D&C Section 3: 1-3
So if you start comparing yourself with others, or start feeling like you’re not doing enough…it’s okay! Just don’t dwell on this like it’s true. It’s not. Because guess what? God wants you to rely and partner up with Jesus Christ, throughout your life. Our Father in Heaven asks for holiness, not perfection.
The truth is perfectionists don’t need Jesus—why? Because they behave in a way in which they rely completely on their own strength and expectations. (Yes, include me in this bubble 🤪 #naturalmanthings)
If you want to build a life that you love, build it with Jesus. Build it on the things He calls you to do. The talents He has given you will shape your life into one that is harmonious with the glory of God. Pain, sorrows, and afflictions are natural companions of receiving joy in your life—because true joy in Christ is honest. True joy in Christ gives space for hard things we need to acknowledge…you know, the trials, the awkwardness, the hiding, the growing!
So, let’s do this together—embrace our imperfections and be whole in the joy of partnering up with the Holy One, who is Jesus. You don’t need to be perfect, you just need Jesus…and I don’t know about you but that’s good news to me. 😉🦋
